“You can’t get in here” – or: Image check in DOCUFY COSIMA

We implemented this “doorman mentality” in DOCUFY COSIMA as part of the “image check” in a specific customer project. Our customer has the requirement to only allow graphics and images in the CCMS that meet certain quality criteria. DOCUFY COSIMA therefore automatically checks for the criteria colour space, resolution, and pixel size during import. Only if the files pass this image check are they imported and can be used. This ensures that the high quality requirements for print and online use are met right from the start and are maintained throughout the entire process chain.

XML Prague: 20 years of XML and CSS in detail

XML, short for Extensible Markup Language, – celebrates its birthday and DOCUFY celebrates, too! That’s right, because we’ve both been around for 20 years now. Our declared goal then as now: To optimize editorial processes based on XML as a pioneer. Reason enough for us to travel to Prague from 8 to 10 February for the meeting of XML friends. There we not only met well-known people from the XML universe (Michael Kay from Saxonica, Tony Graham from Antenna House, Norman Walsh – inventor of the DocBook format and many more), but also had the opportunity to discuss interesting application examples from various fields as well as ideas and approaches around XML.

So far:

  • Operating manuals in 30 languages – including right-to-left fonts
  • Cover pages and spines were created manually in a complex process
  • Three-column design in DIN A5 landscape format sets high demands on the layout tool

Now:

  • User manuals are now created with COSIMA enterprise and DOCUFY Layouter
  • DOCUFY Layouter automatically calculates the thickness of the covers spine based on the paper thickness that is used
  • Mobile garage documentation via TopicPilot in planning
